AP&O is proud to offer a new option in the treatment of dropfoot, a condition caused by weakness or paralysis of the muscles involved in lifting the front part of the foot. It makes walking a challenge, causing a person to either drag the foot and toes or engage in a high-stepping walk called steppage gait. People with stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and cerebral palsy may experience the effects of the condition. Proprio Foot

Atlanta PO is proud to announce the newest technology by Ossur: the PROPRIO FOOT. The PROPRIO FOOT by Ossur is the world's first intelligent foot with a wide and automated range of ankle flexion. The PROPRIO FOOT by Ossur is artificially intelligent: it thinks for itself and responds to changes in terrain and incline is motor-powered, automatically rising and lifting and then lowering its angle from the ground as needed. With this new technology, for the first time ever, amputees have an artificial foot that identifies slopes and stairs after the first step and automatically adapts its position for the next step. The PROPRIO FOOT by Ossur creates a more symmetrical and balanced gait, reducing strain on the sound limb and the hips, back and knees. Walking is less tiring, and standing up or sitting down from a chair is easier.

MEET MARTY KACEN, CPO

Marty Kacen CPO, has spent the last twelve years as a Director and Orthotist/Prosthetist for Prosthetic Orthotic Clinical Center of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. His experience includes being an Orthotics Instructor for Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center from 1990-1994. He is ABC Certified in Orthotics and Prosthetics and a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. He has also served as President of Midwest Chapter of the Academy. His family, wife Myrna and children Tracy, Sean and Abby look forward to a new warmer life in the sunny state of Georgia.
