Founder, President and Clinical Prosthetist of AP&O since 1999. He is a prosthetic examiner for the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics and a past President of the Georgia Society of Othotists and Prosthetists. Before forming AP&O, Jim was the Clinical Director of Atlanta Prosthetics/Novacare and spent 8 years as the Director of Orthotics and Prosthetics at Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center in Atlanta. Jim has 31 years of experience in the industry.
He was educated at Shelby State College and has continued his professional training at various institutions including UCLA, Duke and Texas Institute - Rehab/Research. Full Resume
Vice President Marc D. Kaufman, Certified Prosthetist Orthotist & Licensed Prosthetist Orthotist Joined Atlanta Prosthetics & Orthotics in 1999. He has served as the Residency Director since establishing that program at AP&O in 2003. He worked at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta (currently Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) and started the Orthotic Department at Novacare. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Society of Orthotics and Prosthetists and was President from 2003 to 2005. He also served on the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists from 2004 to 2007. Marc is a visiting lecturer at the Masters of Science Prosthetic and Orthotic Program at Georgia Tech on lower limb Orthotics. Marc has 20 years of experience in the industry.
He was educated at Western Illinois University and graduated from Texas Southwestern Medical Center with a degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics. He continued his education with a residency at Southern Illinois University with a specialization in pediatrics. Full Resume
Will Holbrook became a member of the AP&O family in December of 1999 and has 15 years of experience in the prosthetic field. He received his bachelor of science degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia with a major in biology and minor in Chemistry. He received his graduate degree in prosthetics at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Will received his certification in June of 2000 from the American Board for Certification in orthotics and prosthetics. He has presented papers on patient case studies and new developments in prosthetic componentry. Will currently serves on the GSOP Board as Vice President. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists as well as an associate professor at North Georgia College and State University.
Marty Kacen CPO, joined AP&O in 2007. Prior to that he spent twelve years as a Director and Orthotist/Prosthetist for Prosthetic Orthotic Clinical Center of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. His experience includes being an Orthotics Instructor for Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center from 1990-1994. He is ABC Certified in Orthotics and Prosthetics and a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. He has also served as President of Midwest Chapter of the Academy
Originally from Florida, Eric graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Engineering Science with a minor in Biomechanics. He then moved to Atlanta, GA where he completed his Masters Degree in Orthotics & Prosthetics from Georgia Tech. He completed his residency training at our Atlanta office with substantial exposure to a population of all ages, and is dual-certified/licensed in prosthetics & orthotics. He currently resides in Athens, GA as the manager of our Athens satellite office. Eric remains an active member of both the Georgia Society of Orthotists and Prosthetists and American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.
Kimberly Hill is a native Georgian. She currently resides in West Georgia with her beloved Boxer dog, Maggie. She is a certified Orthotist-Prosthetist and has been practicing with Atlanta Prosthetics and Orthotics since 2005. Currently, she is the Carrollton office practice manager.
Kimberly is an alumna of both Agnes Scott College, a private women's college located in Decatur,GA, and Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta Georgia. She graduated magna cum laude in 2000 with dual degrees in Biology and Psychology. She then attended Georgia Tech, where she earned a Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Following graduation from Georgia Tech in 2005, she entered her Orthotic Residency at Atlanta Prosthetics and Orthotics under the tutelage of Marc Kaufman, CPO. She completed her residency in Orthotics in July 2006 and immediately began her Prosthetic Residency under the guidance of James Hughes, CP and Will Holbrook, CP. She completed her prosthetic training in 2006.
Kimberly is actively involved in both research and education in the field of O&P. She has given lectures all over the state of Georgia and at national conferences. Most recently, she presented research findings/papers at the ACPOC national conference and has been invited to present at the national meeting for the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists. Additionally, she has been involved in the MSPO program at Georgia Tech. Kimberly has taught classes in pediatric and adult orthotic pathologies as well as given lectures on clinical applications in Orthotics and Prosthetics. Currently, she is in the process of publishing her research study, "Beast or Beauty: The Effect of Physical Activity on Amputee Body Image". Early 2010, she will begin two new research projects, one in orthotics and one in prosthetics.
Jason joined our staff in August 2005 as an orthotic technician after earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cedarville University. After working two years as an orthotic technician he completed the orthotic certificate program from Northwestern University in September 2007. Jason then returned to AP&O to undergo his orthotic residency at both the Atlanta and Athens offices, which he completed in October 2008. Since then Jason has been working the Athens office as an orthotist and going through his prosthetic schooling from Northwestern University. He became a licensed orthotist in 2009 and is currently completing his prosthetic residency.
Stephen joined our staff in May 2008 as an orthotic resident after earning his Masters degree in prosthetics and orthotics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to entering the O&P profession, Stephen had worked for various corporations in the field of logistics and supply chain management. His previous education includes a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech, and an M.S. in Business Administration from Penn State University
