AMPUTEE 101

AP&O prides itself in total prosthetic care and treating you like family.
All human beings require a support system throughout life in order to maintain emotional health. They get this through family and friends. However, amputation is a very isolating experience. Often amputees just want to talk to someone who has ‘been there, done that’.   Atlanta Prosthetics & Orthotics recognizes this need and offers you a forum for this type of support with AMP 101.
Julie Suttles facilitates a monthly meeting at our office for new amputees. Julie has been an above knee amputee since 2001 and is one of the founding members of The Amputee Foundation of Greater Atlanta. She currently facilitates support groups at the Gwinnett, Wellstar and Emory Hospital systems. She is particularly helpful in the adjustment of the adult amputee to their new life. She offers herself as a supportive partner who assumes a flexible approach, talks you through the ‘how to’ of functions when needed, and cuts back when the amputee is able to manage.
The Amputee 101 meeting is available to you at your AP&O office.
We hope that you attend this group; we believe this gets you off to the best possible start on your new life.
You can reach Julie at 404-694-0974 at anytime for questions that you may have or to get more information on this group.

PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT NETWORK

The AP&O philosophy provides a true hands-on approach designed to ensure the most successful outcome possible. We realize the importance of addressing the emotional, as well as physical needs of our customers. Over time we have built strong relationships with our customers and have a list of individuals with diversity in age, circumstances and physical abilities that understand personally what it means to lose a limb and the importance of being able to talk to someone who understands what you are going through. Please call any of our offices and we will contact one of our volunteers who we feel can relate to your particular situation.
